PENSION-LOGUE #2

2025: Another year as a pensionist! And another year in which I did NOT play backgammon, as I was supposed to (see my Backgammon Blog HERE)

Brief 2025 stats:

# of trips abroad: 10, including Trondheim, Paris, Compiègne, Bergen, Copenhagen, Molde, Bordeaux, Norrköping and Tallinn.

# of papers: 4

# of awards: 2

# of papers under review: 0 (YES, ZERO!)

Below is a (rather small) sample of 2025 pictures. Terribly incomplete, order is quasi-random. For more info, ask me.

Trondheim, kickoff meeting of project MarTrans, led by Sintef Ocean.

Compiègne, le wagon de l'armistice. Immense history there.

DTU, with Harry Bingham (supervisor), Dale Morris and Martina Reche, after Martina's PhD thesis defence. Happy to be co-supervisor. Thesis title: Cost effectiveness of wind assisted ship propulsion.

Bergen, at the IAME 2025 gala dinner. Gone to Bergen to present a paper on the EU Seamless project. With Tomi Solakivi, Gang Chen, Kristoffer Kloch, and others.

Molde, my 2025 class in Port Logistics.

Bordeaux, Cité du VinAmazing city, great wines.
Norrköping, for the PhD defence of Abdalla Mudber at Linköping University on port community systems and just in time arrival. Happy to be included in the grading committee.
From L to R, Mikael Lind, Julia Pahl, Joakim Kalantari, Adballa, HNP, Anna Fredriksson (supervisor) and Niklas Arvidsson.
Tallinn, member of the examination committee of the PhD of Anders Laasma at the TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology.
Thesis title: Decarbonization framework for Estonian Coastal Ferries. Supervisor: Ulla Tapaninen. Anders is in the middle.

My two roll-ups at the Orient's Fond 10 year research showcase event hosted by Maritime DTU. One on sulphur and one on carbon emissions.
(Sushi stands for "sustainable shipping")

With Stefanos Chatzinikolaou at the 1st Ship Decarbonization workshop at the University of Piraeus.
EU Seamless project general assembly at NTUA.
At DTU, with (from L to R) Allan Larsen, Dario Pacino, Michael Barfod, George Panagakos, David Pisinger, and Line Reinhardt at the Orient's Fond 10 year research showcase event organized by Maritime DTU.

2025 was also notable in that I reinstated my LinkedIn account, which was in FULL hibernation in ALL of 2024.

Why hibernate? Because I was fed up with some of the BS that is very common in the platform.
Why reinstate? I wanted to read a post that cited me.
Well, who knows what will happen in 2026.
